
Hawai'i Evens Series With Cardinal Nine

Hawaii, behind the pitching of Matt Le Ducq and the bat of Chad Boudon, evened the three-game non-conference series with Louisville with a 10-2 victory on Saturday.
Louisville took a 2-0 lead in the third, chasing UH starter Sean Yamashita. The Cardinals loaded the bases with one out then Yamashita walked Mike Budak and Carlos De la Osa to force in both Matt Jarboe and Adam Haley, respectively. Le Ducq (1-0) then entered and struck out Morgan Bojorquez and enticed Fernando Isa to hit to a force out.
The southpaw from Santa Rosa, Calif., went 4.2 innings striking out five and walking one while scattering four hits. Gavin Garrick came and tossed the final two frames for his first relief outing of the season after being the No. 3 starter in the rotation the last two weeks. Louisville was outhit 12-8. Budak and Jarboe each had two hits for Louisville.
Hawaii would take the lead for good in the bottom of the third as Patrick Scalabrini singled to left, stole second, and scored on Gregg Omori's double to center. Carlos Fernandez (0-1) then relieved Cardinal starter Garrett Estabrook who went just 2.1 innings striking out three and walking two. Fernandez then walked Danny Kimura on four pitches and surrendered a three-run homer to left off the bat of Boudon.
UH evens its record at 4-4 while Louisville falls to 1-5. UH is scheduled to send right hander Chad Giannetti to the hill tomorrow against UofL's Denny Williams(0-1) in the rubber game of the series at 7:05 ET. The game will be broadcast on the internet at http://uhathletics.hawaii.edu/.
