Florida International Completes Baseball Sweep Over Cardinals

MIAMI - No. 25 Florida International pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of six Cardinal errors to defeat Louisville 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the Homestead Sports Complex.
The Cardinals opened the game with a run in the first as Mike Hook led off with an infield single to third, advanced to second on an errant pick-off throw and then scored on a single by Curtis Sapp.
FIU (12-0) responded with two runs in the bottom half of the first inning on a home run by Al Corbeil and back-to-back doubles by Raul Pujol and Stephen King.
The Golden Panthers added a run in the third, fourth and sixth and three in the eighth to secure the series sweep.
Todd Raithel (0-1) took the loss after pitching six innings, giving up nine hits and five runs, three of which were earned. Hook had two of the Cards' three hits for the game.
Louisville (0-4) plays host to Western Kentucky at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cardinal Stadium.
