High School: Earned three letters in baseball at St. Rita High School. Named Third Team All-State as a senior catcher while also playing the middle infield. Selected as Louisville Slugger All-American, All-Conference and All-Area as a senior. Also earned All-Conference and All-Area honors as a junior. Also earned two letters in football at St. Rita as a cornerback and running back. Named Second Team All-Conference as a senior in football.
Personal: Born Oct. 29, 1993 in Palos Heights, Ill. Son of Bob and Debbie Soria. Has two siblings, Nate and Blake. Majoring in accounting at UofL. Biggest thrill in sports was his walk-off hit to send St. Rita to the state championship during sophomore season. After college, he wants to be an accountant or a professional baseball player. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his dad because he pushes him to be the best he can. Hobbies and interests include watching football, playing video games and paintball. Favorite movie is Miracle. Favorite TV shows are Workaholics and SportsCenter. Favorite athletes include Joe Mauer, Patrick Kane and Josh Hamilton. Favorite cereal is Frosted Mini-Wheats. Favorite candy bar is Crunch. Favorite food is spaghetti. Favorite teams are Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks. Favorite restaurant is Maggiano's. Favorite types of music are country, rock and hip-hop. Was a member of the Lemont, Ill., Little World Series Team in 2006 representing the Great Lakes region. While at the LLWS, he made ESPN's Top 10 Plays and Web Gems for his game-saving block at home plate. Father Bob played baseball at St. Xavier University in Chicago.
