2006: Started 37 games in the outfield, hitting .326 with seven doubles, a triple and three home runs, driving in 16. Was 5 for 6 on steals. Came on strong down the stretch, hitting .368 with eight extra-base hits in the final half of the regular season. Put in 5 for 10 effort with a 2B, HR, three runs and three RBI in first three games of BE Championship. His second double on the evening drove in the game winner in the bottom of the 12th against Seton Hall (5/18). Was 3 for 4 with three RBI, two runs, a stolen base and a suicide squeeze to go with the two doubles. Went 1 for 2 with a triple and two walks, driving in a pair in win over Villanova (5/14). Had a hit in 17 of 19 games, including an 11 game stretch that was snapped at Notre Dame (5/7), despite walking twice and scoring two runs. Went 3 for 4 with second home run of the season in win over Murray (5/3). Had 3 for 6 outing against UC (4/29), scoring three runs. Logged 1 for 3 effort with a run and a sac against WKU (4/25). Put together 6 for 12 weekend at WVU, walking twice and scoring five runs. Was 5 of 7 with three runs scored, was hit by a pitch twice and doubled in three games at USF (4/15). Delivered a pinch double in win over Evansville (4/11). Was 1 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base in win at GU (4/9). Belted a solo home run to left in win at GU (4/8). Went 2 for 3, scoring once in win over Ball State (3/17). Singled and doubled in four trips at Evansville (3/14), also making tow nice catches in the right field. Was 1 for 2, walking twice, driving in a pair and scoring three runs in win at EKU (3/7). Picked up his first hit as a Cardinal, also scoring a run against Northwestern. Walked with the bases loaded, driving in a run in first career plate appearance at Miami (2/15).
St. Thomas University: Spent two seasons with NAIA school in Miami, finishing 34-18 and Region XIV runner-up in 2005. Hit .282 with 40 runs, eight doubles, three home runs, 33 RBI and was 10-14 on steals in 47 games, while going errorless in the field. Batted .297 with two home runs and 20 RBI in conference games.
High School: Earned three letters in baseball at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, the same high school that NFL quarterback Brian Griese and MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez attended. Was a member of the Explorers' 2003 6A Florida State Champions.
Personal: Born 5/10/85 to Silvia and Pedro Rodriguez in Miami. Is majoring in human development. Has one brother and two sisters. Would like to play pro ball or be a physical therapist or trainer when he finishes college. Enjoys fishing, diving, going to the beach and boating in his spare time. Top Gun is his favorite movie, the Simpsons, Family Guy, SportsCenter and Discovery Channel are his favorite TV shows. Michael Jordan and Bo Jackson are his favorite athletes, while the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins are his favorite teams. Listens to hip hop and rap. Likes steak and rice, Wheaties and peanut butter cups.
