2007: Was forced to miss the final third of the season due to injury. Worked a scoreless inning in win at WKU (4/17). Extended his scoreless streak to six innings, allowing only a walk in tow innings against Marshall (4/3). Tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in win over Xavier(3/17), entering with the bases loaded and one out, inducing an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play to preserve the shutout. Twirled two scoreless innings, fanning two out of the pen at Evansville (3/14). Picked up the win over Cal (3/10) with two-thirds of an inning of work. Worked a scoreless inning out of the pen, fanning two against Stetson (2/25). Struck out two in a scoreless inning in the win over Murray (2/20). Made a solid Cardinal debut, but was victimized by an unearned run. Struck out two in two innings against SIU (2/18).

Cowley County Community College: Compiled a school-record and NJCAA-leading 17 saves in 20 appearances and posted a 1.29 ERA in Arkansas City, Kansas. The 17 saves would have placed him third in the nation among NCAA pitchers last season and he did not blow a save opportunity. Was drafted in the 2006 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round. Named to the NJCAA All-District, All-Region and All-Conference teams, striking out a staggering 35 batters in just 21.0 innings of work.

Odessa College: Tabbed in the 2005 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 47th round after posting a 3-0 record, a 2.46 ERA and three saves while pitching at Odessa College with fellow Cardinal signee Kyle Hollander.

High School: Lettered three times in baseball as a shortstop and a pitcher, compiling a 25-3 record with a 1.43 ERA for the Eisenhower Eagles. Was All-Area, All-District and All-Conference. Also lettered three times in football as a QB and earned All-Area, All-District, All-Conference and All-State.

Personal: Born 8/31/85 to Mike and Tammy Thornton in Altus, Oklahoma. Has two younger sisters. Is a sociology major at U of L. His family is his biggest influence on him. He likes to play ping pong, go wakeboarding and hang out in his spare time. Watches SportsCenter and his favorite athletes are Nolan Ryan, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens and Michael Jordan. Cheers for the Red Sox. Would love to have dinner with Ryan, Jordan and Babe Ruth. His favorite cereal is Cookie Crisp and his favorite candy bar is Payday. Listens to country music. Tossed a perfect game in the Oklahoma Kids State Tournament.
