2013: Made six relief appearances in first college season and finished with three strikeouts and a 10.80 ERA in 6.2 innings pitched. Provided one inning of shutout relief with one strikeout on March 27 at No. 19 Indiana. Made collegiate debut on Feb. 20 against Eastern Kentucky when he allowed three runs on three hits in 1.2 innings of relief.

High School: Played baseball from 2008-12 for South Oldham High School. First Team All-State, 8th Region Player of the Year and 29th District Player of the Year as a senior in 2012. Also named to 8th Regional All-Tournament Team and 29th District All-Tournament Team as a senior. Named All-District in 2010 (sophomore) and in 2011 (junior) and chosen for District All-Tournament Teams those same seasons. Also lettered in basketball as a small forward in 2010-11.

Personal: Born on March 26, 1994 in Louisville. Son of Matt Simons and Cindy and Jason Nichter. Has two siblings, Alex and Emilia. Majoring in health and human performance at UofL. After college, he wants to play professional baseball or become a high school baseball coach. People with the greatest influence on his athletic career are his dad because he taught him competiveness and his stepdad because he helped teach him how to be a good pitcher. Hobbies and interests include hanging out with friends, listening to music and being around family. Favorite movies include 8 Mile, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights and The Hangover. Favorite TV shows are SportsCenter and Impractical Jokers. Favorite athletes include Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, Blake Griffin, LeBron James and Terrence Williams. Favorite cereal is Cocoa Puffs. Favorite candy bar is Hershey's with Almonds. Favorite foods include mom's steak, shrimp and Mexican food. Favorite teams are the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Clippers and all UofL teams. Favorite restaurants are LongHorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings and Popeye's. Dad Matt played basketball at Louisville, stepdad Jason played baseball at Kentucky Wesleyan and grandfather played basketball at Auburn.
