High School: Earned five letters as a catcher for the North Hardin Trojan baseball team. Was a member of the All-Area and All-Region teams four times. Was team MVP his sophomore season, hitting .496 with 25 doubles, four triples and five home runs. As Player of the Year his junior season, he hit .443 with 23 extra-base hits. Accumulated over 200 hits during his HS career with 73 doubles, 11 triples, 15 home runs, 49 steals, 155 runs and 140 RBI.
Personal: Born 11/3/87 to Jeff and Laura Ellen Yates in Hardin County, Kentucky. Has one younger brother. Undecided on his major at U of L. Would like to open up his own fitness center or play pro ball after college. His father is his biggest influence on him athletically. Talledega Nights and Click are his favorite movies. SportsCenter is his favorite TV show. Likes baseball, golf, basketball, poker and video games in his spare time. Rice, chicken and steak are his favorite foods. The Red Sox are his favorite team. He listens to all kinds of music. His dinner guests would be Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Daniel Negraneau.
