2008: Made 10 starts, played in 29 games, hitting three doubles and a home run in 48 at bats during his senior season. Started on Senior Day and singled twice and walked against Rutgers (5/17). Lined a pinch-single against SJU(4/4). Walked twice and scored the game-winner in the bottom of the 11th in win over Butler (3/26). Had first career three-hit game, belting three doubles in win at EKU, adding an HBP(3/25), two RBI and two runs scored. Was 2 for 4 with his first career home run and a walk, driving in a run and scoring twice against UConn (3/22). Cracked a single to left and scored in win over UConn (3/20). Scored as a pinch runner against CSU (2/24).
2007: Went 3 for 9 as a pinch hitter. Scored as a pinch runner in BE Championship win over Rutgers (5/23). Scored in the 12th as a pinch runner in 6-4 win at Cincinnati (5/17). Belted a sacrifice fly, singled through the right side and scored in win at Seton Hall(4/21), minutes from his hometown. Punched a pinch single to right in win at WKU (4/21). Smacked a pinch single in win at Villanova (3/25). Belted a pinch single in win at Villanova (3/24b). Lashed a pinch single in his first plate appearance to drive in an insurance run in the ninth inning in win over Northwestern State (2/16).
Vanderbilt: Redshirted in 2004 before seeing limited action with the Commodores over the past two seasons. Vandy advanced to the Austin Super Regional in 2004 and were SEC runner-up in 2005. Played summer ball for the Metro NY Cadets in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
High School: Drafted by the White Sox in the 46th round of the 2003 MLB Draft after completing his prep career at Monsignor Farrell High School where he was twice named the Defensive Player of the Year in leading the Lions to consecutive Staten Island championships. Twice lettered in track and field, competing in 55m hurdles, 200, 400, 4x200 and 4x400. Also lettered in cross country. Named Army Student Athlete of the Year in 2003.
Personal: Born 11/27/85 in Brooklyn to Joanne and Frank Del George. Is a mechanical engineering major at U of L. His father, his biggest influence on him athletically, was the longtime head baseball coach at St. Francis(NY) College before the college eliminated the program. Biggest thrill in sports was being drafted and playing in Japan and Italy. Would like to play pro ball either here or in Italy when he is finished with school. His hobbies include movies and filmmaking, camping and guitar. Goodfellas, Braveheart, Star Wars, Snakes on a Plane and Cars are his favorite movies. Likes to watch Lost, Entourage, Sopranos and Gray's Anatomy on the tube. Derek Jeter and Lance Armstrong are his favorite athletes. Likes to eat everything and is a self declared "Food Maniac." The New York Yankees are his favorite team. Listens to alternative, pop, salsa, country and hip hop. Would like to dine with Brooks Robinson, Pete Rose and Ted Williams.
