2011: Made four appearances out of the Cards' bullpen pitching 4.0 innings allowing only one unearned run with three strikeouts. Worked second straight scoreless inning of relief on May 17 at Indiana. Pitched 1.0 inning of scoreless relief against Eastern Michigan on May 3. Made second appearance of the season on April 26 at Kentucky, where he allowed only an unearned run on two hits in 1.0 inning. Pitched 1.0 scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout in season debut on March 22 against Kent State.

2010: Made three appearances with 2.1 innings of work out of the bullpen in first collegiate season. Allowed three runs on two hits in less than an inning of relief in Cards' May 9 win at Georgetown. Came out of the bullpen to allow only one unearned run on one hit with a strikeout on March 20 against Ball State. Made first career appearance as a Cardinal on March 13 at Ole Miss, where he allowed one run on two hits in 1.0 inning of relief.

High School: Named Second Team All-State and earned All-Region and All-District honors at Ballard High School, where he was coached by Greg Gilbert. Named to 7th Region All-Star Team in 2008 and 2009. On the mound, he was 4-0 with a 1.15 ERA and 56 strikeouts as a senior, while his junior season featured a 4-1 record, a 0.59 ERA and 30 strikeouts.

Personal: Born Curtis Richard McCombs on Oct. 26, 1990, in Louisville, Ky. Son of Rich and Kathy McCombs. Has one brother, Chris. Majoring in health and human performance and exercise science at the University of Louisville. After college, he hopes to play professional baseball and get a good steady job. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his brother Chris, who played college baseball at Indiana University and Curtis wants to be better than him. Hobbies and outside interests include fishing, golfing and hanging out with friends. Favorite movies are Super Troopers, The Hangover and Black Hawk Down. Favorite TV choices are ESPN and King of Queens. Favorite cereal is Fruit Loops. Favorite candy bars are Milky Way and Twix. Favorite foods are steak and any pastas. Favorite teams are the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. Favorite restaurants are Outback Steakhouse and Cheesecake Factory. Enjoys listening to rap music, rock music and country music. If he could have dinner with three people, he would invite Jesus Christ, Roger Clemens and Adam Sandler.
