High School: Played three years of prep baseball at Hinsdale Central under the guidance of coach Jason Ziemer. Ranked No. 327 in the nation in the class of 2015, was No. 11 overall in Illinois and was the No. 2 outfielder in the state according to Perfect Game. Earned First Team All-State honors as a senior, was a two-time all-conference and two-time all-area honoree. Hit .395 as a prep senior with 14 doubles, six triples, four home runs, 15 stolen bases, 29 RBI and 35 runs scored. Missed most of junior season due to injury after hitting .444 with 10 doubles, six triples and 25 runs scored as a sophomore. Also earned one prep letter in track and field as a 55-meter and 200-meter sprinter.

Personal: Born on Jan. 20, 1997 in Houston, Texas. Parents are Eugene Botsoe and Karen Botsoe. Has one younger brother, Steven. Majoring in sport administration. Signed with the Cardinals after also strongly considering Michigan, South Carolina, Miami and Illinois. After college, he wants to continue his baseball career professionally before eventually becoming a baseball coach. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career was best friend Charlie Donovan. Hobbies and interests include spending time with friends and family and listening to music. Favorite athletes are Dexter Fowler and Andrew McCutchen. Favorite cereal is Lucky Charms. Favorite candy bar is Milky Way. Favorite foods include shrimp, steak, cereal, pasta and chicken. Favorite teams are Houston Astros and Chicago Bulls.
