2006: Made 14 appearances as a true freshman, seven of which were in conference play. Put down the side in order in win over Bearcats (4/29). Fanned two in an inning and a third of hitless ball in the battle of the bluegrass (4/19). Twirled an inning and a third of scoreless ball at USF (4/14). Worked a scoreless inning, striking out one in shutout win over Northwestern (2/24). Struck out three in 1.1 innings in Cardinal debut at Miami (2/15).
High School: Lettered all four years for the Raiders, playing with current Cardinals Chris Dominguez and Jorge Castillo. All Dade County and All-Conference. Played in the 2004 North/South all-star game and the Perfect Game National Tournament. "Sal" was 6-2 with 3 saves as a junior with 66 strikeouts in 50 innings.
Personal: Born 4/16/87 in Miami to Mike and Belkis Salgueiro. Is undecided on his major, but would like to play ball or be a dentist after college. His dad is his greatest influence on him athletically. His dad was drafted in the 6th round of the 1980 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds - the same draft that saw them select Eric Davis, Danny Tartabull and Dave Miley. Enjoys baseball and cars in his spare time. Is a Boston Red Sox fan and Michael Jordan is his favorite athlete. Likes to watch Dumb and Dumber and Las Vegas. Rice, beans and churrasco are his favorite foods. Faced Justin Upton, the best athlete he has ever played against, in the Tropicana Perfect Game.
