2012: Hit .128 with one home run and seven RBI in 30 games and six starts. Hit first career grand slam and first home run of the season in the first inning of the Cards' May 5 win at WVU. Making first start since Feb. 18, went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs in March 25 win over Cincinnati. Picked up first hit of the season, an RBI double to left, in Cards' 13-4 win over Indiana on March 6. Came off the bench as a pinch hitter and remained in the game making tremendous play at third in the Cards' series-clinching win over Pepperdine on March 4. Started the first two games of the season at third base.
2011: Hit .234 with two home runs, 16 RBI and eight doubles in 56 games played, including 43 starts. Had a two-run double and scored twice in May 17 victory at Indiana. Finished with two hits and a run scored on April 26 at Kentucky. Went 3-for-5 with two RBI against USF on April 23. Was 2-for-4 with a run scored in series-opening win over Bulls on April 21. Was 2-for-3 with his first career triple and two runs scored in April 3 win over WVU. Went 3-for-3 with first career home run, career-best three RBI and two runs scored in March 22 win over Kent State. Finished 2-for-4 with a run scored in March 19 win over Xavier. Went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run on March 18 against Musketeers. Was 5-for-12 (.416) with three RBI and four runs scored in three-game series at Pepperdine. Was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in final game of series at Pepperdine. Opened series against Waves going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Picked up his first career RBI with a pinch hit single in the Cards' 3-2 comeback win in 11 innings against Kent State on March 4. Had a hit in each of his first two games as a Cardinal against Michigan and Ohio State. Was the DH in the season-opening win over Michigan and was the leftfielder in the win over Ohio State.
High School: Seiz was an Under Armour Preseason All-American, a First Team All-State selection, the North Penn Reporter High School Player of the Year and a four-time All-League selection at Christopher Dock High, where he was coached by Bill Sigmans. As senior, Seiz hit .575 with five home runs, 36 RBI, 47 runs scored, 19 stolen bases and 16 doubles, while as a junior, he hit .456 with 13 home runs and 36 RBI. He played in the 2009 and 2008 World Wood Bat Association 17U National Championships as well as the 2009 and 2008 Carpenter Cup, 2009 Select Fest, 2009 Mid-Atlantic Showcase and the 2008 Del-Val Wood Bat Tournament. He also earned All-League honors as a sophomore, hitting .427 with eight home runs and 40 RBI, and as a freshman with a .394 average, four home runs and 15 RBI. He earned three letters in soccer and earned All-League honors as a striker. He won state titles in baseball and soccer at Christopher Dock.
Personal: Born Ryan Scott Seiz in Doylstown, Pa. Son of Scott and Christina Seiz. Has a younger sister, Holly. Majoring in communication at the University of Louisville. After college he plans to play and coach baseball. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his father, who taught him everything he knows about baseball. Hobbies and interests include sports. Favorite movie is Napoleon Dynamite. Enjoys watching The Office. Favorite athletes are Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher. Favorite cereal is Lucky Charms. Favorite candy bar is Twix. Favorite foods are Hot Pockets and Fruit Roll-Ups. Enjoys eating at Red Robin. Favorite team is the New York Yankees. Enjoys listening to Linkin Park. Favorite quote is "Never say never." If he could eat dinner with three people, he would choose Jesus, Derek Jeter and Albert Einstein. Something not many people know about Ryan is he used to participate in school plays and dramas.
