2008: Missed the early portion of his freshman campaign, but stepped onto the hill at the midpoint, pitching in eight games. Posted a 2.57 ERA, going 1-0 and striking out six in seven innings. Had his top effort of his young career, retiring all five he faced, striking out one against Rutgers (5/17). Did not allow a hit in an inning and a third against WVU(5/10). Struck out two in a hitless inning in the win over Butler (5/7). Earned his first career win against WKU (4/30). Twirled two hitless innings, fanning three against UC(4/25). Made his collegiate debut at Ohio State(4/16).

High School: Named All-State his senior season, drafted by the Brewers in the 31st round. Named preseason All-American and earned three letters for the Bulldogs, including All-Conference honors his sophomore and senior seasons. Won 15 games with 174 strikeouts in 142.0 IP over three seasons of prep baseball. Selected to play on Team Indiana. Also earned three letters as a forward on the hockey team helping the team to state runner-up finish as the second leading scorer.

Personal: Born 10/21/88 in Flint, Michigan to Dan and Peggy Clarence. From the same hometown that boasts NASCAR drive Tony Stewart. Is majoring in business at UofL. His brother is his biggest influence on him athletically. Lists music, guitar and pogs as his hobbies and interests. His favorite movies are Sandlot, 300 and Green Street Hooligans. Family Guy and Futurama are his favorite TV shows. Carlos Zambrano is his favorite athlete and he cheers for the Cubs and the Red Wings. Chicken parmesean is his favorite food, Lucky Charms is his favorite cereal and Reese's is his top candy bar. Like to go to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat. Would like to eat dinner with his late Aunt and Ty Cobb. Not many people know that he once won a soap box derby contest and he collects pogs.
