March 27, 2026 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville softball team (27-7, 4-3 ACC) defeated Georgia Tech (19-18, 5-8 ACC) 8-5 on Friday night at Ulmer Stadium.
Anna Wise (7-3) took the win in the circle after tossing 2.2 innings in relief of Alyssa Zabala. Wise and Zabala combined to give up just five hits on the day while also combining for five strikeouts. Jordan Williams went 2-for-3 with two triples and four RBIs to lead the offense. Chelsea Mack reached base in three of her four at-bats and scored two runs, while Easton Lotus and Camryn Lookadoo combined for four hits, three RBIs and three runs on the day.
The first inning was quiet, and Zabala posted a 1-2-3 top of the second to get Louisville to the plate. Madison Pickens found herself in scoring position with two outs when Williams knocked her first triple of the day off of the right field wall to give the Cards an early 1-0 lead.
After a single and a stolen base from Mack in the home half of the third, Lotus singled her in to double the lead. Bri Despines joined Lotus on the basepaths, and a single from Lookadoo brought in Lotus and put UofL up 3-0.
The Yellow Jackets' Gracyn Tucker used a leadoff solo homer to right field to bring GT back within two in the fourth inning, and pitcher Makayla Coffield sat all three Louisville batters down in order in the bottom of the inning.
Georgia Tech plated four runs in the opening frame of the fifth, using two hits and capitalizing on two Cardinal errors to take the lead at 5-3.Â
UofL responded with a five-run home half that started with the bases loaded and no outs. Despines drew a four-pitch walk that drove in Riley Janda, before Lookadoo followed suit and walked in Mack. The Jackets forced two quick outs, but Williams' second triple of the day cleared the bases to bring home Lotus, Despines and Lookadoo.
Wise kept the GT bats at bay in the sixth and seventh to finish out Louisville's 27th win of the year, surpassing the team's total from 2025.
The Cards will be back in action for the second game of the series on Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m. ET.Â
