Cards Comeback in Seventh Inning to Secure Series Win Over Georgia Tech

This marks the Cards’ first series win over the Yellow Jackets since 2021.
Georgia Tech opened the scoring in the first inning and added four runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run home run, to take an early lead.
Louisville answered in the bottom of the third when Ava Venturelli and Riley Janda recorded consecutive doubles, allowing the Cardinals to get on the board. The Cards added another run in the fourth as Madison Pickens scored to cut into the deficit.
Brooke Gray entered in relief in the third inning and held Georgia Tech scoreless the rest of the way, allowing Louisville to stay within reach.
In the sixth, Jordan Williams doubled in a run and Venturelli followed with an RBI double to bring Louisville within one.
The Cards completed the comeback in the seventh. Easton Lotus reached on a walk, extending her reached base streak to 30 games, before Bri Despines tripled to left field to tie the game. Camryn Lookadoo followed with a first-pitch double to left field to drive in the winning run.
With the win, Louisville erased a multi-run deficit behind five extra-base hits and a scoreless relief outing from Gray, who moved to 8-1 on the season.
The Cards will look for a series sweep tomorrow at 12 p.m. on ACCNX.
