CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Louisville softball team battled Clemson but came up short in a 4-0 decision Saturday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium.
The Cardinals scattered three hits in the contest, highlighted by a double from Bri Despines. Taylor Monroe and Jordan Williams each added singles as Louisville looked to generate offense against Clemson starter Abby Dunning.
In the circle, Alyssa Zabala delivered a strong relief performance for the Cardinals, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three.
Clemson built its lead with single runs in the first and second innings before adding two more in the third. Louisville's defense held the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way behind Zabala's effort in the circle.
Jayden Gohs (3-1) took the loss after starting the game for the Cardinals and pitching three innings.
Louisville moves to 19-7 overall and 2-3 in ACC play and will look to bounce back as the series continues Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.
