Cards Score Seven Runs in Final Two Innings to Complete 7-6 Comeback Over Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Louisville softball team rallied late to defeat Clemson, 7-6, Sunday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium. The Cardinals scored seven runs over the final two innings to secure the ACC victory and move to 20-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Louisville trailed 6-0 after Clemson scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cardinals responded with a five-run sixth inning to swing the momentum. Camryn Lookadoo delivered a two-RBI double to center to put Louisville on the board, and Madison Pickens followed with an RBI single. Ava Venturelli then launched a two-run home run to left center to pull the Cardinals within one run.

The Cardinals completed the comeback in the seventh. After Bri Despines reached base, Lookadoo drove a triple to center field to tie the game. Pickens followed with another RBI single to give Louisville a 7-6 lead.

Louisville finished with 11 hits in the contest. Lookadoo led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Pickens also recorded three hits with two RBIs. Chelsea Mack added two hits and stole her 21st base of the season.

In the circle, Brooke Gray earned the win after entering in relief in the fifth inning. Gray tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while helping shut down Clemson's offense down the stretch.

The Cards will continue their road swing with a midweek trip to Western Kentucky on Wednesday, March 18. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
