Women’s Golf Tied for 14th after First Round of Moon Golf Invitational

Bailey Burkett paced the Cards and is tied for ninth overall
MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Louisville women's golf team is sitting tied for 14th overall after the first round of the Moon Golf Invitational Sunday afternoon from the Suntree Country Club. The Cardinals started well on the front nine on Sunday but was difficult to score on the back nine as they closed out their first round of the tournament. The Cards as a team shot 14-over-par 302 over the first round of the tournament.
Bailey Burkett led the way for the Cardinals in the opening round as she posted an even-par 72 over the first 18 holes. She got off to a hot start with four birdies in her first eight holes. The four birdies were a team high and she sits tied for ninth overall.
Veronika Exposito is tied for 40th overall after she put together a 3-over-par 75 in the first round. Exposito tallied one birdie in her opening round of action.
Millie Cottrell tallied a 5-over-par 77 in the first round. She is tied for 60th overall. Emree Cameron is one stroke behind her after her 6-over-par 78 in the first round. Cameron is tied for 70th overall and she had three birdies in the first round.
Thienna Huynh rounded out the Cardinals opening round with a 7-over-par 79. She is tied for 75th overall after the first round of play.
The Cards will be back on the course on Monday for the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational. Tee times will be going off Hole No. 1 and No. 10, similar to the first round earlier this morning.
