Cardinals Close Homestand With Dayton

Louisville has a five-game winning streak heading into the match
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (6-1-0) is set to finish off its six-game homestand this weekend. The Cardinals have won each of the previous five games during the homestand and are set to welcome Dayton (2-2-2) to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sunday night for Heroes Appreciation Night. The Cardinals and Flyers will square off at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals continue to have the best offense in the country after their 8-0 win over Kent State on Thursday. Louisville leads the country in goals (35), assists (38), points (108) and goal differential (+31). Thursday's win over the Golden Flashes was the third game this season the Cards have scored eight or more goals. In home games this season, Louisville has outscored opponents 34-2 in its five games.
Sophomore Amelia Swinarski leads the nation with nine assists on the season. Swinarski is also tied for the NCAA lead in points with 19. Senior forward Mackenzie Geigle is tied for the ACC lead and is sixth nationally with six goals this season. Swinarski and junior midfielder Liza Suydam are just behind her with five goals each and are tied for 17th nationally. Geigle is tied for sixth nationally with 16 points and Suydam is tied for 15th nationally with 13 points.
Defensively, the Cardinals have allowed just four goals in its seven games this season. They have recorded a clean sheet in three straight games, four of their five games at home and five total times this season. Erynn Floyd has started in net in all five games the Cardinals have recorded a clean sheet this season.
In the win over Kent State, Swinarski set a career high with her first hat trick and tied a career high with six points. She is the first Louisville player to record a hat trick since the 2018 season. Geigle scored a goal for her fifth-straight game in the win and Suydam picked up her second brace of the season.
Following Sunday's game against the Flyers, the Cardinals will hit the road to start off ACC play. Louisville will travel to Tallahassee to take on seventh-ranked Florida State on Thursday, September 11.
