Cardinals to Host Kent State Thursday Night

Louisville remains undefeated in its current homestand
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (5-1-0) is in the final stretch of the current six-game homestand. The Cardinals are set to host Kent State (2-1-2) next on Thursday, September 4 at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals and Golden Flashes are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are currently 4-0 over the six-game homestand and have the best offense in the country across several categories. Louisville leads the NCAA in goals (27), assists (28) and total points (82) through its first six games of the season. The Cardinals are also tied for the NCAA lead in goal differential with a +23 mark.
Individually, sophomore midfielder Amelia Swinarski leads the NCAA with nine assists on the season. She has more than double the amount of assists as the second-highest mark (4) in the ACC this season. Swinarski and senior forward Mackenzie Geigle are tied for the ACC lead and rank ninth nationally with 13 points. Geigle leads the Cards and ranks 11th nationally with five goals this season.
In the most recent 2-0 win over Coastal Carolina, the Cardinals tallied their second-straight clean sheet. The Cardinals have had a clean sheet in three of their four home games and four of the six games this season. Taylor Morris scored her first career goal in the win over the Chanticleers and she is the 13th different player to score a goal this season. Geigle scored her team-best fifth goal in the win and it was the fourth-straight game with a goal for her. The goal came off a corner kick from Swinarski and it was her fourth-straight game recording an assist.
After Thursday's showdown with Kent State, the Cardinals will close out the homestand on Sunday, September 7. Louisville will host Dayton at Lynn Stadium at 7 p.m. ET to put a close on the six-game homestand and conclude their non-conference portion of the schedule.
