It is the first hat trick by a Louisville player since 2018

LOUISVILLE, KY. – It was all Cardinals, as Louisville women's soccer team (6-1-0) toppled Kent State (2-2-2) 8-0 Thursday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. Sophomore Amelia Swinarski recorded a hat trick tonight for the Cards and tied a career high with six points. It's the first hat trick by a Louisville player since the 2018 season.

The Louisville offense has shined at home this season, scoring 34 goals in five contests. The Cards defense has been equally impressive, this shutout is the third-straight for Louisville, and the fifth of the season.

Louisville had five different goal scorers tonight, highlighted by the multi-goal games from Swinarski & Liza Suydam. The Cards added 10 assists, with Brooklyn Lee and Karina Peat leading the team tonight with two each.

Karsyn Cherry got the scoring started when in the 10th minute she recorded her third goal of the season on a penalty kick. Betsy Huckaby quickly added to the Cardinals lead when she scored her second goal of the season in the 12th minute.

Swinarski, assisted by Suydam and Huckaby, scored her first goal of the night in the 14th minute.

Goals by Suydam and Mackenzie Geigle in the 20th and 36th minutes gave the Cards a 5-0 edge heading into the half.

Suydam, assisted by Brooklyn Lee and Taylor Morris, got her second goal of the night in the 68th minute for the brace. It is her second brace of the season and her fifth goal of the season.

In the 82nd minute Swinarski, assisted by Ellie Hill and Lee, scored her second goal of the night. The last and final goal of the night was a memorable one, as in the 89th minute Swinarski made a successful push to the goal and secured the hat trick.

Next up for the Cards is a showdown with Dayton on Sunday, September 7, at 7 p.m. inside Lynn Stadium. The game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
