September 22, 2025 | Men's Soccer
The Cards have won the last two meetings in the series.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 12 University of Louisville men's soccer team returns to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Tuesday night for one of the marquee matchups on its schedule, hosting rival No. 22 Kentucky in the annual Battle of the Bluegrass. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
The Cardinals (5-2-0, 1-2-0 ACC) look to bounce back after a pair of conference setbacks against Virginia and Notre Dame. Prior to that stretch, Louisville opened the season with five consecutive shutout victories, including a statement 1-0 upset over then-No. 1 Stanford and a road win at Ohio State.
Redshirt sophomore forward Chase Vazquez has paced the Louisville attack with three goals and two assists, while freshman Quinton Wilson and sophomore Michael Lee have each added two goals. Defensively, goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff has anchored the group with five shutouts through seven matches.
Kentucky (4-0-2, 1-0-0 SBC) enters Tuesday's contest unbeaten on the year following a 3-2 victory over UCF in its conference opener. The Wildcats are led offensively by Alex Ruiz, who has tallied five goals and three assists, and Bertil Alban, who has scored three times while converting over 60 percent of his shots on goal.
Louisville has claimed each of the last two meetings in the rivalry, including last year's dramatic 1-0 win in Lexington on a late strike from Leon Kondic. The Wildcats hold the all-time edge in the series, 18-16-5, but Louisville is 3-3 against UK under head coach John Michael Hayden, who is in his seventh season leading the program.
