Cardinals Continue Homestand with Wright State
August 23, 2025 | Women's Soccer
This is the second of six-straight home games for the Cards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (2-1-0) continues its homestand as it hosts Wright State (1-1-0) at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium Sunday night. The Cards are in the midst of a six-game homestand and Wright State is the second game of the stretch at home. The Cardinals and Raiders are set to face off at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are coming off an 8-0 win over Detroit Mercy in the home opener this past Thursday. Louisville tied a Lynn Stadium record with the eight goals and picked up their second clean sheet of the season. It was the most goals they have scored in a game since 2018 when the Cardinals defeated Wright State to open the season.
Seven different players scored in the home opener against Detroit Mercy. Coming off a career-best seven goals last season, senior Mackenzie Geigle tallied her third career brace in the win over the Titans. Nicole Jodoin, AG Gibson and Grace Maddox all tallied their first career goals in the win. Karsyn Cherry and Betsy Huckaby also got on the scoresheet against the Titans. Amelia Swinarski tied a Lynn Stadium record as she had a career-best three assists in the win.
The Louisville defense was on point once again as they limited Detroit to just three shots total and did not allow a shot on goal. Erynn Floyd and Brielle Baker combined for the clean sheet in the win for the Cardinals. Dating back to last season, the Cardinals have had clean sheets in four of the last five games.
This will be the 18th meeting all-time between the two schools with Wright State leading the all-time series 12-4-1. The Cardinals have had much of the recent success as they are unbeaten in the last four matchups dating back to the 2006 season. This is the first meeting between the two schools since the season opener in 2018 when the Cardinals defeated the Raiders 8-1 at Lynn Stadium.
