Louisville falls 17-3 at No. 9 Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville lacrosse team fell 17-3 to host ninth-ranked Virginia in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Klockner Stadium.

Reese Whiteman and Izzy Seikel each registered a goal and an assist and Cece Reilly also scored for the Cardinals (6-8, 1-6 ACC) while J Pleck collected 10 saves along with a career-high five ground balls.

The first quarter saw Virginia (9-4, 4-3 ACC) take a 5-0 lead before the Cardinals found their offense with a pair of back-to-back goals. Whiteman broke through with 3:45 remaining in the frame as the sophomore increased her team-best tally to 22 on the season. Nearly two minutes later, she dished a feed to Reilly to pull Louisville within three goals. The Cavaliers responded with a pair of goals to take a 6-2 lead in the final minute of the first quarter.

The teams traded goals to start the second quarter with UVA striking in the first minute, but the Cardinals countering in the fourth minute this time Seikel connected on an assist from Abigail Cole for her 14th goal of the season. The Cavaliers would go on to register four unanswered goals to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.

After the break, the Virginia scoring run continued with two more in the third quarter, extending its lead to 13-3 entering the final frame where it would outscore Louisville 4-0 to secure the 17-3 win.

Overall, Virginia outshot the Cardinals 38-14 with a 29-8 advantage in shots on goal and a 14-8 edge in the draw control column. Â Kate Galica led the Cavaliers with four goals while Jenna Dinardo and Addi Foster chipped in three apiece.

The game marked Louisville graduate senior Ashley Osborne's 79th career contest, moving her into a tie for first on school's all-time list. The defender also recorded a ground ball to extend her career total to 102, moving to eighth among the Cardinals' program leaders.

Pleck's 10 stops in the game marked her fifth double-digit save performance of the season, moving her to eighth on the Cardinals' single season list with 123 and sixth in career saves (243). Erin Nicholson, Olivia Scroggie and Cole earned two draw controls each.

The Cards will return to UofL Lacrosse Stadium for the final two home games of the regular season starting with a Wednesday non-conference tilt against Kent State. On Saturday the Cardinals will honor the 2025 senior class when they play host to No. 11 Duke in an ACC Network televised game.
