LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville right-handed pitcher Patrick Forbes was named to the midseason watch list for the Golden Spikes Award by USA Baseball on Thursday.
Forbes is one of 45 players on the watch list for the award presented annually to the best amateur baseball player in the country.
The Golden Spikes Award Advisory Board will continue maintaining a rolling list of athletes throughout the season, allowing players to play themselves into consideration for the award before the announcement of the semifinalists on May 18.
Forbes has been excellent as Louisville's Friday night starter through the first half of the 2025 season.
The junior is currently 2-1 with a 3.89 ERA in seven starts. Forbes has racked up 65 punchouts in just 37.0 innings, ranking third in the country in strikeouts per nine innings and fourth nationally in total strikeouts.
Forbes is coming off a career-best 13 strikeouts against Cal in the series opener last weekend and has struck out nine or more in five of his seven starts.
Forbes and the Cardinals play host to Boston College for a three-game series this weekend at Jim Patterson Stadium.
