Whiteman scores two goals, Nakazawa delivers a pair of assists in 17-6 loss at Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sophomore Reese Whiteman scored two goals and junior Negai Nakazawa delivered a pair of assists, but the Cardinals fell short in a 17-6 loss at Notre Dame in both teams' regular-season finale Thursday afternoon at Arlotta Stadium.

In addition to Whiteman's eighth multi-goal game of the season, Rian Adkins also tallied a goal and assist while Maggie McMahon, Erin Nicholson and Abby Scully chipped in goals for the Cardinals who finish the 2025 campaign with a 7-10 record and a 1-8 mark in ACC play.

Notre Dame (7-8, 2-7 ACC) got on the scoreboard early with a goal by Emma Murphy in the first minute of the game. The Cardinals responded a minute later when Nakazawa sent a feed to McMahon who delivered her 12th goal of the season. The Fighting Irish tallied nine unanswered goals to finish the first quarter.

The Cardinals struck first in the second frame as Adkins set up Whiteman for her team-best 25th goal of the season. Notre Dame answered with a trio of goals before Scully ended the run after connecting on a pass from Nakazawa to make the score 13-3 entering halftime.

After the break, the Irish got a pair of goals to start the third quarter before Adkins converted a free position shot for her 15th score of the season. After a counter by Notre Dame, Whiteman delivered her second goal of the game.

Louisville took the momentum into the final frame with Nicholson finding the back of the net for her ninth goal of the season. The Irish capped the scoring with a goal in the closing minute of play for the 17-6 final.

In the contest, Notre Dame held a 24-13 advantage in shots on goal with each team totaling seven stops apiece. The Irish also finished the game with a 13-12 edge in draw controls as Louisville's Olivia Scroggie collected a game high – and career- best nine. Sophomore Morgan Vasseur registered two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Three players split time in net for the Cardinals with Hanna John and Haley Richards collected three saves apiece and J Pleck securing her 139th stop of the season.

• Graduate senior defender Ashley Osborne closes her career as Louisville's all-time leader in games played with 82 and is tied for third with 70 games started.
• Senior goalie J Pleck finishes her career with 259 saves, ranked fifth on the Cardinals' all-time list. Her 2025 season tally of 139 is tied for seventh in the program record book
• Sophomore Reese Whiteman finishes her breakout season with 26 goals and six assists for 30 points. She registered at least one point in 14 of Louisville's 17 games.
• Junior Negai Nakazawa earned one draw control, extending her career total to 98.
• Olivia Scroggie rounds out her freshman campaign with 73 draw controls, standing tied for eighth on Louisville's single season list.
