LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team dropped the doubles point but came back in singles to win 4-3 over visiting Xavier Saturday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

In doubles, Xavier's No. 26 ranked Abby Nugent ad Clara Owen won 6-1 at No. 1 and Elizabeth Pendergast and Madeleine Rexroat clinched at No. 2 with a 6-3 win.

Xavier scored the first singles point when Elizabeth Pendergast rolled 6-4, 6-4 over Elena Noguero. But the Cardinals got on the board when Louisville No. 115-ranked Alice Otis beat Abby Nugent 6-3, 6-3. Louisville's lone senior Allie Gretkowski delivered the next point, holding off Madeleine Rexroat 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3. Louisville Elisabeth Iila dropped her first set 6-3 on court five before winning 6-3, 6-3 over Natalie Smitek. Berta Miret clinched the match at No. 6 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Sofia Mazzucato. UofL dropped the point at No. 4 to end the match.

The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday versus UAB in a match that will start 30 minutes after the men's match with Duke or approximately 3 p.m.
