Cards Conclude Homestand with 4-1 Win Over UAB

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team earned a 4-1 win over UAB Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to conclude a four match homestand.
In doubles action, the duo of Germany Davis and Allie Gretkowski defeated Klara Kajabova and Enya Ratkic 6-3 on Court 2. The Cards clinched the doubles point shortly after on Court 1 as the pairing of Alice Otis and Elisabeth Iila defeated Vanessa Mellynchuk and Mackenzie White 6-4 to move to 7-3 on the season.
Turning to singles play, Gretkowski made quick work of White on Court 3, winning 6-4, 6-0 to extend the UofL lead.
The Cardinals clinched the match off back-to-back second set tiebreakers as sophomore Lika Peresypkina bested UABs Mellynchuk 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) on Court 1 and Elisabeth Iila defeated Ratkic 6-4 7-6 (9-7) to secure the match.
The Blazers earned its lone point of the match on Court 2 as Kristyna Damaskova secured a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Louisville will travel to the sunshine state next weekend to face Florida State and Miami on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Cardinals will face the Seminoles at 4 p.m. ET and the Hurricanes at 11 a.m. ET.
