Louisville Battles Back to Beat Florida State, 4-3

Cardinals earn first conference win since 2023
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team earned its first ACC win of the season, battling back to defeat Florida State 4-3 Friday evening at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. Today's match marks the Cardinals first conference win since 2023 after going winless in ACC play last season.
The Cardinals got down early in doubles play, losing 6-1 on Courts 1 and 3 respectively, to give the Seminoles an early advantage in the match.
Turning the page to singles, Lika Peresypkina earned her fourth win on the season as she made quick work of M.B. Deatherage 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot to tie the match.
On Court 1, Alice Otis tried to battle back in the second set but ultimately fell to Eva Shaw 6-4, 7-5 as Florida State reclaimed a 2-1 lead in the match. Shortly after, Berta Miret took the loss on Court 6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 to bring the Seminoles within a point of clinching the match.
UofL continued to battle however, as Germany Davis earned her eighth win of the season on Court 5, defeating Laura Putz 7-5, 6-2 to bring the score to 3-2. Elena Noguero followed suit, winning a tough three-setter 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot to tie the match at three apiece.
The match came down to Court 4 as senior Allie Gretkowski got the best of Maria Parra Romero 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Cards.
Louisville will remain in the sunshine state as they travel further south to take on Miami Sunday morning with first serve slated for 11 a.m. ET.
