LOUISVILLE, Ky- The University of Louisville lacrosse team dropped its Saturday afternoon Atlantic Coast Conference contest 15-2 to No. 4 Stanford, at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.

Senior Lauren Figas and freshman Reese Whiteman each scored a goal and junior Maggie McMahon tacked on an assist to lead Louisville's offensive efforts. Senior J Pleck registered nine saves in the game for the Cardinals, extending her season tally to 107 and graduate senior Ashley Osborne collected her 100th career ground ball.

Louisville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Figas registered her 15th goal of the season with 13:17 left on the first quarter game clock. Stanford would answer with a score by Rylee Bouvier with 11:19 left on the first quarter clock. That would be one of three goals for Stanford, as they led 3-1 after the first quarter.

Stanford kept the momentum rolling into the second quarter, where they scored eight goals to enter halftime with a 11-1 lead.

Louisville forced six Stanford turnovers in the third quarter, but was unable to capitalize. Stanford added two more goals, going up 13-1 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Louisville tacked on another goal when Whiteman got her 17th score of the season with an assist by McMahon, who now has six assists on the season. Stanford capped the scoring with 3:44 left in the game to make the final score 15-2.

In the game Stanford had a 24-10 advantage in shots on goal and a 10-9 edge in draw controls. Stanford's Martha Oakey led all scorers with four goals while Aliya Polisky and Ava Arceri chipped in three apiece. Louisville freshman Olivia Scroggie earned a game high six draw controls and Negai Nakazawa forced three turnovers to lead the Cards.

UofL moves to 5-7 (1-5) on the season. Stanford now sits at 10-3 (4-2).

The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, April 1, when they host on the Liberty Flames at 12 p.m. at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
