Louisville Set for Midweek Matchup Against EKU

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will host in-state foe EKU for a midweek game on Wednesday, March 12. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACCNX.Â

Breakdown of the Cards
Louisville sits at 16-7 (2-1 ACC) on the season. The last time the Cardinals took the field, it resulted in a 14-inning walk-off win against Notre Dame, clinching a 2-1 series win. Louisville's ACC series win over Notre Dame marked the first time since 2007Â that the Cards had won a series versus the Irish. Louisville's pitching was stingy during the series, holding Notre Dame to a combined eight runs across three games and not allowing the Irish to score more than three runs in a single game. The Cards have wreaked havoc on the base path against their opponents this season, as they currently have three of the top four stolen base leaders in the ACC. Chelsea Mack's 12 stolen bases leads all of the ACC, Char Lorenz's 11 stolen bases are second in the ACC and 10 stolen bases by Easton Lotus is tied for third in the conference.Â

- Redshirt junior Easton Lotus continues to stay hot for the Cards so far this season. Lotus leads the team in hits with 34, while carrying a .410 batting-average.
- Redshirt freshman Char Lorenz has been dominant for the Cards this year as she has a team best four home runs, 29 RBIs and five doubles.
- The pitching spotlight is on sophomore pitcher Lindsey Mullen, who came in as relief against Notre Dame on Sunday and earned the win after putting up 6.1 innings of shutout work. Mullen's ERA sits at 1.11 for the season, with 19 innings pitched.

- Eastern Kentucky is led by sophomore two-way star Maddi Rutan. Rutan, racked up an impressive freshman season that saw her take home A-SUN pitcher of the year and First-Team All-ASUN honors. She has continued where she left off. At the plate, she leads the Colonels with a .435 batting average, a team best seven homers and a team leading 30 RBI. On the mound, Rutan has compiled a 7-3 record, paired with a 2.16 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 64.2 innings pitched.
- Kennedy Drafton is another young standout for Colonels. The sophomore from Pearland, Texas, comes in with a .570 OBP, six doubles and 25 runs scored.
- EKU is led by head coach Jane Worthington, in her 32nd season with the Colonels.
