The Cardinals’ 22 runs ties for the most runs in a single game in program history

LEESBURG, Fl. – The University of Louisville softball team closed out the weekend with a record-setting win over Cleveland State, 22-2. The Cardinals end the weekend with a 3-2 record.

The Cardinals' 22 runs ties for the most runs in a single game in program history, dating back to March 9, 2014 in a win over Ohio University. This also marks the most runs scored in a game for Head Coach Holly Aprile at Louisville.

Char Lorenz hit her first and second career home runs, going 4-for-4 with four runs and six RBIs. She tied for the most single-game runs and hits and tied for sixth in RBI in program history.

The Cards started out strong with six runs on three hits in the first inning, earning five RBIs. Lorenz homered to begin the second inning and Katie Thatcher followed up with a triple. Maddi Grant singled to right field, earning an RBI, and Lorenz closed out the scoring for the inning with a triple (2 RBI).

Lorenz hit another two-run home run in the third inning and Venturelli tripled, scoring on a throwing error.

The Cards put up six runs in the first inning, nine runs in the second inning, and seven runs in the third inning.

Brooke Gray got the win in the circle, allowing two hits and two runs in three innings.

Louisville will travel to the Joan Joyce Classic in Boca Raton, Fl, hosted by FAU from Feb. 14-16. The Cards will face Villanova, Minnesota, Purdue, and FAU.
