
Cards Open Up 2025 Season at The Spring Games

Louisville will face five teams in the three-day event
LEESBURG, Fla. – The University of Louisville softball team opens its 2025 season at The Spring Games, taking place from Feb. 7-9 in Leesburg, Fla.
Louisville will play five games over the course of the weekend featuring Middle Tennessee, Liberty, Rutgers, Radford, and Cleveland State.
The Cards will begin on Friday with a 4 p.m. game against Middle Tennessee followed by a 6:30 p.m. game against Liberty. The Lady Flames ended the 2024 season with a 38-25 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
On Saturday, Louisville will face Rutgers at 1 p.m. and Radford at 3:30 p.m. Finally, the Cards will wrap up their weekend with a Sunday morning game against Cleveland State at 11 a.m.

SERIES HISTORY
- Middle Tennessee: Louisville leads the series 5-3, losing the most recent match-up 3-5 in eight innings (2/15/15).
- Liberty: Louisville is tied 1-1 in the series with the Lady Flames, last losing 7-9 (3/30/22).
- Rutgers: Louisville leads the series 12-4. The Cards most recently beat Rutgers 11-3 in six innings (3/23/14).
- Radford: Louisville is undefeated, 3-0 in the series. The Cards most recently won 6-0 in 2019.
- Cleveland State: This marks the first meeting between the two teams.
NOTING THE ROSTER
- The Cardinals return eight field players and five pitchers including 2023 All-ACC selections Easton Lotus and Alyssa Zabala.
- Louisville also welcomes eight newcomers to the 2025 roster after the graduation of seven starters including National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Southeast Region honoree Riley Frizell as well as two-time All-ACC selection Daisy Hess.
- Zabala led the Cardinals' pitching staff with a 3.08 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 161.1 innings. Her 18 victories stood second in the ACC and 40th nationally.
- Also, back in the circle from last year is senior RHP Sam Booe and sophomore LHP Brooke Gray – the duo, along with Zabala combined for 25 of Louisville's 27 wins last season.
- The Cards return two starters in the offensive line-up from last-year's injury plagued team: junior outfielder Chelsea Mack and senior infielder Maddi Grant.
- Redshirt Easton Lotus (2B) and senior Ally Alexander (INF) were both in the starting lineup and suffered season-ending injuries in 2024. Char Lorenz was injured during the 2024 preseason and utilized a redshirt season.
