Louisville Sends Six Players to ITA Regionals

West Lafayette, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team will head north to play in the ITA Ohio Vally Regional Championships hosted by Purdue. The tournament will run from Thursday, Oct. 9 to Tuesday, Oct. 14.

The Cards are sending six players to the regional championships, with all players slated to play singles and two pairs playing in doubles competition.

Russell Lokko, Matei Onofrei and Louis Chussaeu will get their start tomorrow in the qualifying round of the tournament with the opportunity to advance to the main draw.

Walid Ahouda, Hamza El Amine and Andre' Steinbach have all qualified for the main and will begin competing on Friday.

Senior Pedro Cressoni has put together a strong fall season so far, but had to withdraw from regionals due to injury.

The Regional Championship is now part of the new NCAA Division I pilot program that leads into the Individual NCAA Championships in late November. Out of each regional across the country, the two singles finalists and the doubles champion will automatically qualify for their respective individual NCAA championships.
