
Cross Country Closes Out Regular Season at Nuttycombe

The men’s team placed 19th in the team standings, while the women’s squad placed 22nd.
MADISON, Wis. – The University of Louisville cross country teams wrapped up their regular season on Friday morning at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
The men's squad was paced by Ian Kibiwot for the first time this season, as the senior finished 57th with an 8K time of 24:00.2 while outleaning Elsingi Kipruto at the line, who placed 58th in a matching time of 24:00.2.
Geoffrey Kirwa crossed the line in 24:33.8 as the third man through the line for the Cards. Gustav Bendsen followed with a time of 24:46.2, and Spenser Wolf closed out the scoring for the men's team after racing to a time of 25:29.4.
On the women's side, freshman Eliza Nicholson led the team through the line for the first time in her career, covering the 6K course in 20:50.1 to place 65th.
Nancy Chepleting finished as the team runner-up for the second consecutive meet, earning 83rd place in 21:00.7, while Maddie Seaby clocked a time of 21:10.3 to finish just outside the top 100 in 104th.
Haley Meade came through the line with a season-best 6K time of 21:40.9, and Olivia Alessandrini rounded out the Louisville scorers in 21:45.1.
In a loaded field that featured 37 teams that entered the meet ranked in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll (18 men's teams and 19 women's teams), the Louisville men placed 19th in the team standings, taking down three ranked teams in the process, while the women placed 22nd.
Next, the Cardinals will begin their postseason on their home course at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park when the ACC Cross Country Championships come to Louisville on Friday, Oct. 31.
