COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Louisville men's cross country team wrapped up the 2025 season on Saturday morning, placing 26th as a team at the 2025 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
In their first appearance as a unit at the national championship meet in a decade, the Louisville men battled with the nation's top teams to finish just outside the top 25, defeating five teams that were ranked in the latest iteration of the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
Elsingi Kipruto paced the Cardinals through the line, sticking with the lead pack for much of the race before placing 39thoverall while covering the 10K course in 29:06.6, the second-fastest time on the cross country course in program history.
With the performance, the native of Mosoriot, Kenya earned All-American distinction to punctuate a freshman campaign that also saw him finish as the Southeast Regional runner-up on Nov. 14 and earn ACC Men's Freshman of the Year honors after claiming the bronze medal at the ACC Championships on Oct. 31.
Ian Kibiwot was the second man through the line for the Cards, knocking over 30 seconds off his previous personal record with a time of 29:28.0 to finish 75th individually. Geoffrey Kirwa earned a lifetime best of his own on his way to 149thplace, crossing the line in 29:56.6 to put three Cardinals under the 30-minute mark.
Gustav Bendsen raced to a personal-best time of 30:30.6 to place 202nd as the fourth man to finish for Louisville, while Spenser Wolf closed out the scoring for the Cards after placing 240th in 31:21.3.
Rounding out the day for the Cardinals was the pair of Jack Moore, who finished 250th in 32:01.3, and Jackson Nolan, who clocked a time of 32:28.1 to earn 254th place.
With the conclusion of the cross country season, the Cardinals will now turn their attention to the indoor oval with the 2025-26 indoor track & field track & field schedule set to be announced soon.
