
Louisville Cross Country Set for Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville cross country teams head to the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9 for their final regular-season meet of the fall.
The Thomas Zimmer Championship Course will host the event in Madison, beginning with the women's 6K race at 11:30 a.m. ET. The men's 8K race will take off at 12:10 p.m. ET.
Louisville joins 35 men's and 33 women's teams at the Badger-hosted meet. The field includes nationally ranked men's programs No. 1 New Mexico, No. 2 Iowa State and No. 6 Colorado, along with women's powers No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Northern Arizona and No. 4 New Mexico.
In total, 21 ranked men's programs and 18 ranked women's teams will compete in Madison.
Elsingi Kipruto staked his claim as the Cardinals' men's leader in the season-opening John McNichols Invitational on Sept. 19, finishing second in the 8K in 23:22. Entering the season, he was coming off ACC Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year honors and All-America recognition in 2025.
Nickson Kogei (22nd) and Kelvin Kipleting (26th) also headlined Louisville's opening finishers for the men's 17th-place team finish.
Nancy Chepleting also continued her success for the women's side, placing 13th in Terre Haute, Ind., with a 20:18.6 mark in the 6K. Right behind her was first-time Louisville racer, freshman Winnie Chebet at 22nd thanks to a 6K time of 20:41.3.
The pair, along with two other top 100 finishers, led the women's 10th-place charge.
