
Elsingi Kipruto’s Third-Place Finish Highlights Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

MADISON, Wi. – The University of Louisville cross country teams ended their regular season in the national spotlight Friday at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational competing against a combined 39 ranked men's and women's teams at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
Both the women's and men's teams for Louisville finished 21st in their respective star-studded fields. The women's team finished with 499 points, while the men totaled 554.
Elsingi Kipruto led the Cardinals with a third-place finish in the men's 8K, posting a time of 22:31.1. He finished one second behind winner Meshack Kipruto of Colorado, who completed the race in 22:30.1.
Elsingi Kipruto finished among the top three in each of Louisville's regular season meets ahead of the ACC Championships at the end of the month.
Nickson Kogei placed 17th in 23:01.8, while Kelvin Kipleting finished 95th in 23:54.8 to round out Louisville's top 100 finishers in the men's race. Spenser Wolf placed 211th in 25:08.8, followed by Ethan Brouw in 228th at 25:58.9.
Nancy Chepleting continued to lead Louisville's women's team, placing 17th with an improved 6K time of 19:39.8. The junior also led the Cardinals at the John McNichols Invitational on Sept. 19, finishing the 6K in 20:18.6.
Chepleting completed the opening 2K in fourth place and remained among the top 10 through 4K.
A flock of Cardinals followed Chepleting. Winnie Ndiwa finished 110th in 20:57.4, Temi Ariyo placed 115th in 20:58.6 and Haley Meade followed in 116th at 20:59.2. Libby Dowty rounded out Louisville's scorers, placing 141st in 21:08.7.
