Cardinals Close Road Trip with Boston College
October 11, 2025 | Women's Soccer
This is the third and final game of the current road trip
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (10-3-1, 3-2-1 ACC) is heading up to New England to finish off its current three-game road trip. The Cardinals are in Boston to take on Boston College (4-5-5, 0-4-2 ACC) on Sunday as we enter the final few weeks of the regular season. The Cardinals and Eagles will square off at 12 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The first two games of the current road trip saw the Cardinals go up against ranked foes in No. 2 Notre Dame on Oct. 3 and most recently No. 13 Wake Forest this past Thursday. They were the third and fourth ranked opponents the Cardinals have faced this season and all of the matchups have been on the road.
In Thursday's match against the 13th-ranked Demon Deacons, the Cardinals trailed after Wake scored the opening goal of the match in the 30th minute. Offensive opportunities were hard to come by as the Cardinals had only two shots on goal in the first half and their first shot on goal in the second half did not occur until the 82nd minute, but the Cardinals made it count.
With the ball just outside the Cardinals box, Amelia Swinarski played the ball inside the box for Betsy Huckaby. Huckaby beat out two Wake defenders to the ball and was able to send it towards the middle of the box after a deflection. Waiting in the middle of the box was Liza Suydam, who volleyed the ball with her left foot into the back of the net for the equalizer. It was Suydam's sixth goal of the season and the fourth time in the last five games she has recorded a point to level the game at 1-1.
That was the final shot on goal of the match as it ended at 1-1 and the teams shared the point. Louisville picked up its 10th point of the season with the draw and currently sit in seventh place in the ACC standings with four conference games remaining. The top six teams in the league standings advance to the ACC Tournament at the end of the season. Louisville has games remaining against Boston College (two points), No. 1 Virginia (13 points), NC State (11 points) and SMU (8 points). The Cardinals have not advanced to the ACC Tournament since 2019, when they fell in overtime to NC State in the quarterfinals.
This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools and the all-time series is tied 4-4-2. The Cardinals are 1-2-1 all-time against the Eagles in matches up in Boston. The Cardinals are 2-1-2 against Boston College over their last five matches dating back to the 2019 season.
