Zion Rose, Parker Detmers and Lucas Moore were among Perfect Game’s top 101 sophomores in the country.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program had three student-athletes ranked among the top 101 sophomores in the country by Perfect Game.
Outfielder/catcher Zion Rose (No. 20), right-handed pitcher Parker Detmers (No. 43) and outfield Lucas Moore (No. 86) were among the best second-year players in the country heading into the 2025 season.
Louisville was one of four ACC programs with at least three players on the list.
Rose turned in a Freshman All-America campaign in his first season with Louisville, leading the Cardinals with a .380 batting average in 44 games. The Chicago native finished with 19 extra-base hits, 42 runs scores and more walks (19) than strikeouts (18). Rose was also one of three Cardinals to spend the 2024 summer with the USA Collegiate National Team.
Detmers pitched in 14 games as a freshman last spring. The right-hander, and younger brother of Louisville All-American Reid Detmers, posted a 2-1 record with 17 strikeouts in 18.2 innings.
Moore saw action in 48 games in his freshman season. The speedy outfielder hit .318, scored 30 runs and swiped 17 bases. Moore had a standout summer with the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League, hitting .340 with 13 doubles, 47 RBIs and set the Waterloo single-season record with 48 stolen bases.
The trio will be part of a Cardinals team that opens the season Feb. 14-16 at the Shriners Children's College Showdown in Arlington, Texas.
