
Else Praasterink Advances to Olympic Finals in 10M Platform Diving

Else is the first-ever Cardinal diver to compete at the Olympics and now has advanced through the prelims, semis to the finals
PARIS --Â University of Louisville diver Else Praasterink advanced to the finals of the 10M Platform at the La Defense Arena at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

 After placing 15th in preliminaries with a score of 281.60, Praasterink finished 12th to snag a slot in the finals. The first-ever Louisville Cardinal diver to compete at the Olympics, she is also now the only one to reach the finals.

Diving for her native Netherlands, she scored a 56.55 on her 205B and a 58.80 on her 305C. She scored a 58.50 on her 107B and put up a 62.40 on her 407C on her highest difficulty dive (3.2). She boarded a 56.55 on her 5152B on her final dive.

Seventeen-year-old Chinese diver Hongchan Quan put up a 421.05 and teammate 18-year-old Yuxi Quan (403.05) qualified as the top two point scorers and were  54 points ahead of the third place diver and 98 ahead of the fourth place qualifier.

Finals begin at 9 a.m. ET Tuesday on Peacock.
