Somov Swims in 100 Breaststroke Semifinals at Paris Olympic Games

PARIS -- University of Louisville swimmer Evgenii Somov posted a 1.00.00 in the semifinals of the 100 breaststroke to finish seventh in his heat and 13^th overall at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Saturday afternoon in the Paris La Défense Arena.

Great Britain's Adam Peaty turned in a 58.86 in the first semifinal and will be the top seed as he attempts his third gold medal swim in that event in tomorrow's finals with the eight top qualifiers.

Evgenii Somov advanced to the semifinals of the 100M breaststroke after posting a 59.83 to qualify 13^th overall.

Tomorrow will feature just one Cardinal on the blocks as Denis Loktev of Israel will compete in the 200M freestyle.
