Cardinals Down Northern Kentucky in Midweek Contest

Louisville picked up an 11-7 victory on Tuesday.
Louisville (26-18) tallied double digit runs for the 18th time this season.
The Cardinals grabbed an early lead with a Gavin Kilen sacrifice fly. However, Northern Kentucky (25-19) hit a pair of solo homers in the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Zion rose immediately gave the Cardinals the lead back with a two-run triple into the left field corner in the bottom half of the third. Kilen and Eddie King Jr. then hit back-to-back home runs to cap off a five-run frame.
NKU got back within one with a three-run fourth, but Louisville answered with three of its own.
Rose recorded his second triple of the night to drive in a run in the fourth and a wild throw to third base got into the dugout sending him to the plate. Matt Klein then added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to push Louisville's lead back to four.
NKU trailed by just three in the seventh and loaded the bases with nobody out. Tucker Biven entered the game and proceeded to get two strikeouts and a groundout to keep the Norse off the board.
In the bottom half of the inning, Brandon Anderson stepped to the plate for the first time in over a month and picked up a pinch-hit RBI single. Dylan Hoy then capped the scoring with a perfect bunt single that scored Lucas Moore.
Rose finished the night with the two triples and three RBIs. Kilen added three RBIs of his own, including his eighth homer of the year.
Colton Hartman pitched a scoreless inning in the start. Justin West (2-0) struck out four in his two innings of work.
Louisville will now head on the road for seven straight beginning this weekend at Boston College. The series begins on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET.
