Cardinals Fall 4-3 in Battle with Clemson

Clemson, S.C. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Clemson Thursday evening.

The Cardinals took the doubles point with Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina joined forces at No. 1 to win 6-3 over Daniella Medvedeva and Christina Mayorova. The point was clinched by Berta Miret and Jamilah Snells, who outlasted Jenna Thompson and Leigh Van Zyl to win 7-5.

The Tigers struck back in doubles with Van Zyl beating Gretkowski 6-2, 6-2. But Peresypkina took the Cards to 2-1 with a win at No. 2, beating Medvedeva 6-3, 6-3. At No. 6, Louisville's Elena Noguero battled Alexandra Anttila to a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 win to take the Cards to 3-1. The Tigers won at No. 4 and No. 3 leaving the match at 3-3 and the No. 1 court to battle for the match.

Snells took the first set 6-3 but fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 to give the Tigers the 4-3 win.

 Clemson improves to 11-8, 2-6 in the ACC while Louisville moves to 4-13, 0-8 in the ACC 4-3. The Cardinals will travel to Georgia Tech for a Saturday match.
