Cardinals Drop Series Finale to Virginia Tech

Louisville took an 8-1 loss on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team lost 8-1 on Sunday in the series finale against Virginia Tech at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (13-7, 1-2 ACC) suffered its second consecutive loss as its 19-game homestand is nearing its conclusion.
The Cardinals finish the homestand on Tuesday against in-city foe Bellarmine. First pitch on Tuesday has been moved up to 5 p.m. ET.
Virginia Tech (14-4, 5-1) jumped on the Cardinals early for the second straight day. The Hokies hit five solo home runs over the first four innings on their way to a 7-0 advantage before tacking on another run in the sixth.
Louisville's lone run of the day came via a solo home run off the bat of Zion Rose in the sixth.
Patrick Forbes (0-1) allowed five earned over 2.1 innings in the start. Kaleb Corbett was excellent out of the bullpen, retiring all eight batters he faced. Will Koger also recorded a scoreless inning.
Rose had the only multi-hit game for the Cardinals, going 2-for-4 with his second home run.
