She played her first two collegiate seasons at Monmouth
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her staff are pleased to announce the addition of transfer midfielder Liza Suydam. The Lancaster, Pa. native played her first two collegiate seasons at Monmouth and will have two years of eligibility available at Louisville. In her two years at Monmouth, she tallied 16 goals, seven assists and 39 points while starting in all 39 games.
"Liza will be a wonderful addition to our team," said Ferguson-Dayes. "She is a central midfielder who likes to be on the ball and move the game forward! She's technically gifted and can beat you on the dribble as well as look to combine to break you down! She can score goals as well as set people up so we are thrilled to add a player of Liza's ability to our very talented team!"
Suydam has been one of the main forces in the Monmouth offensive attack the past two seasons. Following her sophomore season, she was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Midfielder of the Year. She was the first midfielder of the year in Monmouth program history. Suydam started all 20 matches and ranked second on the team with 22 points on nine goals and four assists. She had two game-winning goals and was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week twice during the season. She finished the year tied for fourth in the CAA in goals per game and seventh in points per game.
In her freshman season, Suydam was named CAA Freshman of the Year and First Team All-CAA after leading the team with seven goals, three assists and 17 points. Suydam was the sixth Rookie of the Year in program history. She started all 19 games and her seven goals were the most by a freshman in the CAA during the season. She had a brace in the win over FDU and tallied the game-winner against Stony Brook. Suydam was also named Rookie of the Year by the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
