October 11, 2024 | Women's Soccer
This is the first of four-straight home games for the Cards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After a month with only one home game, the Cardinals are returning home to begin a four-game homestand this weekend. Louisville welcomes the 13th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish are set to face off at 5 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
Saturday's match will be the Cards All In Mental Health Awareness game. Cards All In is a mental health group within the athletic department at Louisville for the student athletes. Cards All In is a safe space to share stories, learn, listen and connect with student athletes across all sports.
The weekend matchup with Notre Dame will be the Cardinals first home game since September 29 and just the second home game since September 8. The Cardinals have had much of their success at home this year as they have a 5-1-1 record at Lynn Stadium and all four of their clean sheets have come at home this year. In their seven home games this year, they are outscoring opponents 17-3.
This will be just the second ACC home game this season as the Cards have already played four ACC road games up to this point. The Cardinals defeated NC State on September 29th in their lone ACC home game this year. Last season at home against ACC opponents, they defeated No. 25 Duke, Pitt and Syracuse while drawing with No. 20 Virginia.
Saturday's match against No. 13 Notre Dame will be the Cardinals third-straight against a ranked opponent. They faced No. 3 North Carolina and No. 2 Duke last week on the road. After Saturday's match, the Cardinals are set to face two more ranked opponents next week for five-straight games against ranked foes.
Following Saturday's match, the Cardinals will welcome No. 7 Stanford to Lynn Stadium in their inaugural season in the ACC. The Cardinal and Cardinals will square off on Thursday, Oct. 17 and it will be broadcast nationally on the ACC Network.
