Barker John Earns ACC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

The sophomore scored three goals across two Louisville victories.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's soccer forward Damien Barker John was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league on Tuesday.
Barker John is the fourth Louisville player to earn a weekly ACC honor this season, with Gage Guerra taking home a pair of awards and Alex Svetanoff picking up the Defensive Player of the Week nod during the opening week of the season.
Barker John tallied three goals last week in two Louisville victories, helping the Cardinals improve to 6-1-1 on the season.
The sophomore put the icing on the cake in the 2-0 midweek win at Evansville, converting a penalty kick in the closing seconds of the match for his first goal of the season.
Barker John followed that up with an impressive showing against NC State, tallying a pair of goals in the opening 45 minutes as part of Louisville's 5-2 victory.
The Queens, N.Y., native is part of a Louisville offensive attack that ranks top-10 nationally in goals and goals per match this season.
Louisville returns to the pitch on Friday night for a road match at Virginia. Kickoff from Charlottesville is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
