September 12, 2023 | Men's Soccer
The junior has scored in four consecutive matches, including four goals last week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville forward Gage Guerra collected more weekly honors after another stellar week on the pitch.
The junior earned his second consecutive ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor after netting four goals in two matches against ranked opponents last week.
Guerra also earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week.
Guerra began last week by netting a pair of goals in Louisville's 4-2 win over No. 19 Kentucky. He then followed it up with a second brace at No. 4 Syracuse, including the game-tying goal in the 89th minute to help the Cardinals secure a 2-2 draw.
The Houston native has been on a scoring binge early this season, leading the Cardinals and the ACC with six goals through five matches. The six tallies also rank second nationally, just one behind the nation's leader.
Guerra is the first Louisville player to record six goals in the first five matches of the season since at least 2001.
Louisville returns to the pitch on Friday night to take on Virginia Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and will be televised on ACC Network.
