LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Allie Gretkowski from Mt. Pleasant, S.C. will continue her tennis career at the University of Louisville according to UofL head coach Mark Beckham. Â
Â
Gretkowski is transferring to the Ville from the University of South Carolina. As freshman at USC,  she primarily played No. 5 singles while seeing some action at the No. 4 spot. She was particularly successful in doubles playing alongside Ana Cruz, mostly at the No. 3 spot where the duo went a perfect 12-0 and 9-0 in SEC matches. Overall, Gretkowski managed a 13-0 record playing on court three for doubles. She and Cruz's nine SEC doubles victories tied a school record for the most in a single season. She was named as an ITA Scholar-Athlete award winner. She did not play much in the spring of 2023 due to an injury -- playing in five tournaments and one dual match for South Carolina. She was ranked as high as No. 37 in doubles alongside Megan Davies
Â
Coming out of high school, Gretkowski was regarded as the No. 1 recruit in South Carolina by TennisRecruiting.net and overall the No. 12 prospect in the nation by the service and considered a blue-chip recruit.Named the South Carolina USTA Player of the Year in 2017, she also won the doubles championship at the prestigious Eddie Herr ITF Championships in 2018. She won an International Tennis Federation tournament doubles championship in Atlanta in consecutive years (2018-2019) and was a doubles finalist in the 16s at the 2018 Orange Bowl as well as the 2018 USTA Winter Nationals in the 18s. She was a singles finalist at a J4 ITF event in Lexington, S.C., in November 2019 and was a semifinalist at a J3 earlier that year in San Jose, Calif. Her Universal Tennis Ranking at the time of her signing had her as the 32nd-ranked junior in the country and the No. 215 junior in the world.
Â
Â
"Coach Fulton and I would like to welcome Allie Gretkowski to Louisville Women's Tennis. Allie is bringing a wealth of experience to our program," said Beckham. "With our team being so young next year, we will need to rely someone with some experience of going through the grind of college tennis. Allie was one of the best recruits in the country coming out of high school, so we are very fortunate that she chose Louisville to finish her college career. She's coming from a SEC school, so she understands the highest levels of college tennis and what she can expect playing for us. She will make an impact in singles and doubles on the court and is willing to do whatever it takes off the court as well. I am really excited about Allie joining our program."
